Cartagena Puerto de Culturas

You will discover 3.000 years of Cartagena, learn about the geographical changes through the centuries and its influence in the development of the city and about civilisations that conquered this territory.
Punic Wall
The Performance Center of the Punical Wall is located in the south side of the Aletes Hill, one of the 5 hills that surround Cartagena, and dates at the end of the 3rd century B.C.
Augusteum
Located in the Caballero Street, in the old part of the city, where the old forum existed. You will learn about how people lived in Cartagena during I and II centuries B.C.
Decumano
Architectural setting located in Tres Reyes Square, where the visitor will experience how the street life was in an ancient Roman city (the bustling activity of shops, people moving between terms, harbour and forum, etc).
La Casa de la Fortuna (Fortune's House)
There you will learn how people lived during the Roman Empire. You will discover such decorative elements as paintings, murals and mosaics.
Castillo de la Concepción
Located in the Cerro de la Concepción, one of the five hills that surround the city, the Center sits over the remains of the castle, place popularly known as the “Duck´s Castle”, part of Parque Torrres. Here the visitor will learn the history of Cartagena in a pleasant way with interactive displays that show animated images of settlers, celebrities and historical periods.
Panoramic Lift/Elevator
A singular experience that brings you up to the “Centro de Interpretación de Cartagena” (Cartagena´s Interpretation Center), located in the castle.
Pabellón de autopsias (Autopsy Pavilion)
It is a curious place to visit. Located in the old building that was part of the Navy Hospital during 18 th century. It was built to train surgeons. The hexagonal ground floor is crowned with a cupola designed by Vodopich.
Civil War Shelter-Museum
During Spanish Civil War, Cartagena became one of the most bombed and punished cities. In order to protect themselves, the inhabitants constructed anti-aerial shelters. This one, located in Gisbert Street and excavated in a hill, was one of the biggest in Cartagena, with a capacity of 5.500 persons.
La Manga del Mar Menor

Under the name of “La Manga del Mar Menor” there is a curios orographical caprice that has been one of the symbols that best identifies/defines the coast of Murcia as a turistic destination: a thin strip of land extended along 24 kilometres between Cabo de Palos and Punta de Mojón, that naturally borders the salted water lagoon known as “Mar Menor”.
With an area of 170 square kilometres, the Mar Menor is the biggest salty water lake in Europe. With an average depth of 3.5 metres (maximum of 6.5 metres) and a perimeter of 73 kilometres, it is a magnificent natural pool with lots of leisure and sports possibilities. The climate is also privileged, with 320 sunny days, a 3000 hours per year of sunshine. This fact influences the temperature of its waters, 11º C during the winter and over 30º C in summertime.
La Manga offers many leisure activities and is one of the most important tourist centers on the Mediterranean, with a wide offer of restaurants, bars, discotheques, shopping centres, golf courses, beaches, etc.
Circuito de Velocidad de Cartagena

During last years, highest level motorcycling and motoring races take place in the Circuit of Cartagena. Sidecar World Championships, Superprestige, European and Spanish Motorciclyng Championships, motoring championships like Citröen and Renault Cups, and Spanish Superkarts Championships are celebrated in this modern installations. Such important pilots like Rossi, Sete Gibernau, Jorge Martínez “Aspar”, Pablo and Fonsi Nieto, Alvaro Bautista, Melandri, Kallio, De Puniet, Sabbatani, Poggiali, Porto and Debón, among others participated in the races here.
Parque Meditérraneo
Opened at the end of year 2006, Espacio Mediterráneo is one of the most important shopping and leisure centres along the Mediterranean Coast. With an area of 250.00 square meteres, it has shopping galleries, hypermarket, cinemas, restaurants and casino.
